A NEW BEGINNING
Hello! My name is Patrik, and I am a pastor at Hope Church. I warmly welcome you to our church and to this part of our church website. We aim to be a church for you and your friends.
Here, we want to briefly and simply share about Jesus, faith, and how you can take your first steps forward in your journey to get to know Him.
I have written a simple, easy-to-read book that shares my journey to God. It's titled *The Year I Turned Seven, My Dad Died*. It describes my life and how God became my Father and how Jesus healed my broken heart. Feel free to reach out if you're interested in it. Now, let’s move on to an explanation of the Christian faith and your first steps as a Christian. Keep scrolling.
THE GOOD NEWS
Jesus loves all people and wants to lead us into a relationship with God. Everyone needs repentance and forgiveness from sin, as well as salvation, which is found in Jesus Christ. This is because of what Jesus did on the cross. The Bible tells us that He took our sin in our place.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." Romans 3:23-24
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
Becoming a Christian is not the end; it is rather the beginning of a new life. We respond by asking for forgiveness and by surrendering our lives to God.
"If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
"Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." John 1:12
The way to become a Christian is not built on our own good deeds; what would be good enough? Salvation is based entirely on our response to what Jesus has done for us.
Prayer: Jesus, I receive You into my heart, forgive my sin, and help me to live for You. – Amen.
OUR LIFE WITH GOD
The Bible speaks of baptism as being connected to salvation. From the first Christians to today, baptism has always been practiced by Christians. Baptism means being immersed in water. It is also a symbol of burying your old life and starting your new life with Jesus as Lord and Savior.
"Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38
If you would like to be baptized, please reach out to us.
The Bible can be seen as the holy book of believers. When you understand the entirety and the connection between the Old and New Testaments, a whole new world opens up. We recommend starting to read the Gospel of John.
Feel free to find someone in the church with whom you can read together or ask questions.
"The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple." Psalm 119:130
Prayer is also a significant part of the Christian life. Starting the day by placing it in His hands and ending the day by thanking God for it is a great habit.
Meeting with friends in faith and praying together is an incredible strength. Prayer is a relationship, not a religion.
"So I say to you: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you." Luke 11:9
You can't live life alone. When we connect with other Christians, we receive support in our new life with Jesus. Committing to a community is a way to grow in faith.
"They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." Acts 2:42
We believe in sharing your step with your friends. It's important to talk about your decision.
We understand that it can be received in different ways, but standing up for Jesus earns respect in the long run.
"As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard." Acts 4:20
"Return home and tell how much God has done for you. So the man went away and told all over the town how much Jesus had done for him.” Luke 8:39
