Salvation

A NEW BEGINNING

Your Best IS YET TO COME

Hello My name is Patrik, I am a pastor at Hope Church, I would like to warmly welcome you to us as a church and to this part of our church’s website. We want to be a church for you and your friends.

Here we want to tell you quite briefly and easily about Jesus, about faith and about how you can take your first steps forward in your journey to get to know Jesus.

I have written a simple, easy-to-read book that tells about my journey to God. It’s called – The year I turned seven, my father died. It describes my life and how God became my Father and how Jesus mended my broken heart. Get in touch if you are interested in it. Now for an explanation about Christian faith and about your first steps as a Christian. Scroll on.

The Good NEWS

Jesus loves all people and wants to lead us to a relationship with God. All people are in need of repentance and of forgiveness from sin and in need of salvation and it is found in Jesus Christ. This is because of what Jesus did on the cross. The Bible tells us that He took our sin in our place.

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and they are declared righteous as a gift, by his grace, because they are redeemed by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:23-24

“But God proves his love for us in that Christ died for us while we were still sinners.” Romans 5:8

“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23

Becoming a Christian is not the end, rather the beginning of a new life. We respond by asking for forgiveness and by surrendering our lives to God.

“For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

“But to all who received him, he gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in his name.” Gospel of John 1:12

The path to becoming a Christian is not built on one’s own good deeds, what would be good enough? Salvation is built entirely on the response, the response to what Jesus did for us.

Prayer: Jesus, I receive You in my heart, forgive my sin and help me live for You. – Amen

What is Next?

Becoming a Christian is the start of a new life and the Bible speaks of being a disciple of Jesus.

Here are 5 points to help you live your new life in Christ.

The Bible speaks of baptism as being linked to salvation. From the first Christians until today, baptism is something Christians have always practiced. Baptism means immersed under water. It is also a symbol to bury one’s old life and thus start one’s new life with Jesus as Lord and savior.

“Peter answered: “Repent and be baptized all of you in the name of Jesus Christ, and your sins will be forgiven. Then you will also receive the Holy Spirit as a gift.” Acts 2:38

The Bible is a believer’s holy book, one might say. When you understand the whole and the connection with the old and new testament, a whole new world opens up. We recommend starting to read the Gospel of John.

Feel free to find someone in the church you can read with, or ask questions to.

“When your words open, they give light, they give understanding to the ignorant.” Psalm 119:130

Prayer is also a big part of the Christian life. To start the day by putting the day in his hand. Ending the day thanking God for the day is a good habit.

Meeting with friends in the faith and praying together is a tremendous strength. Prayer is a relationship, not a religion.

“Therefore I say to you: ask, and you shall receive. Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and the door will open.” Luke 11:9

You cannot do life alone. When we connect with other Christians, we get support in our new life with Jesus. Surrendering to a community is a way of growing in one’s faith.

“The believers adhered to the teaching of the apostles and they had fellowship with each other and broke bread together and prayed.” Acts 2:42

We believe in telling your friends about your move. To share your decision.

We know it can be received a little differently, but standing up for Jesus brings respect in the long run.

“No, we can’t help but tell you about all that we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:20

“Go back to your family and tell them what God has done with you.” Then the man went away and told everyone in the whole city what Jesus had done to him.” Luke 8:39
